The Workers’ Party (PT) is a Brazilian left-wing and center-left political party, founded in 1980 in São Paulo. It emerged from the union of labor unions, social movements, sectors of the Catholic Church and left-wing intellectuals, and its main leader is Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The party governed Brazil under Lula (2003-2010) and Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016), and returned to power in 2022. Among its causes are social programs, the increase of the minimum wage and the reduction of inequalities. In October 2026, Lula was re-elected president.
The party’s visual identity is marked by the red star with the letters “PT”, a symbol known throughout the country.
